This wood thread cutting kit will effortlessly cut strong, tight fitting 1 inch x 6 TPI male/female OD/ID threads in wood for use in vices, clamps, toys, furniture, puzzles, fixtures and more. The 1 inch tap requires a 7/8 inch starter hole (drill bit not included). Straight-grain and round hardwood dowels work best. Oil dowel with mineral or boiled linseed oil (not included), or better yet, soak dowel in oil for several days before machining to reduce friction and tearout. The two-handled threadbox cuts the male threads . Polypropylene threadbox includes ergonomic 2-1/2 inch long x 1 inch diameter turned handles for secure and easy gripping. Threadbox has aluminum inserts to prevent excessive wear. Designed to allow easy chip clearance. The matching tap die cuts the internal female threads. Hardened 1 inch x 6 TPI hardened steel tap is machined to close tolerances. Tap is designed for through holes.
